Aloha for now

That's all for now. Now that this thing is working again I will post stuff more often. Take care all...

The day's excitement

We only caught a 20lb and 25lb mahi but they both happened to be at the same time. Got real exciting for a few minutes.

Fishin while tell was here

Reisa's brother Tell was here a month buildin yurts with Kai and Scuba Steve. We all went fishin one day on Andy's boat

Relief!

We finally made it. Down the Bright Angel, to the Ranch for 45 minutes and back out of the canyon in 9 and a half hours. Only bout 17 miles but it seemed WAY longer than that. Glad we did it, glad its over

Almost out

Only like a mile and a half left. That was the longest mile and half I have ever hiked though. We weren't walkin too good for a couple days

A beautiful sight

Speaks for itself

Really Red

The canyon was definately a sight to see but the hike out was no picnic. It went on FOREVER...

Phantom Ranch

Next time we go down here we are going to hike in, stay at Phantom Ranch for a night, then RAFT out. There is a rafting launch beach just up the river. That's the only way to do it

Bright Angel campground

Actually this is where the parkies live and work. The campground actually lies beside a big creek that isn't in this picture. Really nice down here and the last water stop when you climb out on the Kaibab trail like we did.

We did it!

We can both say that we hiked to the bottom. Glad we did it but neither of us will hike the whole canyon in one day again.

Indian garden

Most people that go into the canyon stop when they get here unless they are staying at Phantom Ranch or Bright Angel campground. Did we though? Of course not!

Impressive

I had never seen the canyon from anywhere but the rim. Pretty impressive from below

Arizona in April

Reis and I went to Arizona the first week of April. We hung out in Flag and Williams. One day we hiked the grand canyon

Traveling by cessna

We really liked taking the Go Express flight over to Maui. No lines, no security, get there fifteen minutes before the flight and you can sight see from the plane. Bookin our next flight soon...

Aloha Maui

We loved Maui and are already planning another trip. Prob go for at least the whole weekend this time.

Green country

Didn't realize Maui was so lush and undeveloped. Had heard how commercialized MAui was so I expected a lot more buildings. The Hana highway is all nature too. Maybe when we go next time we will see more resort areas.

Wind surfing

There were dozens of wind surfers out there on our way back as well as a few kite surfers. Awesome to watch and looked like fun to do. Someday... As we were leaving a giant set came through that wiped out most of the boarders. Must have been at least 14' faces totally closing out. Wish I could have taken a few pics

The lowest pools

These are two of the last pools before the sea and the Hana highway entering the park on the bridge.

Seven sacred pools toward the sea

This is the view from one of the biggest waterfalls back toward the sea. Maui is incredible. (At least of the east side. All we had time for the day we went.)

Breakin the law!

We didn't really break the law but the Parkie told us the pools were off limits cuz the water level was too high. Yeah right! We drove two and a half hours on the windiest narrowest road in the world and we aren't going to swim in the sacred pools? Not

Awesome waterfalls

We drove past Hana to the national park. There is a couple mile hike that goes along the seven sacred pools. This waterfall is at least 150' tall.

Hana highway

We lucked out and it had been raining the day before, so all the waterfalls were flowing strong on the Hana highway. Incredible drive but it is LONG and WINDY and VERY slow.

Sweet surf

This spot is actually known as being the top sail-boarding spot on earth. On the way back there were sail-boards everywhere.

Finally went to Maui

Long time no blog. Haven't blogged cuz it wasn't working right. Anyway, inter-island flights came down in price so we finally hopped in a cessna and went to Maui.
